Importance of Automatic Cleaning System

Heart and soul of every communication system lies in data transmission. For that matter, every system dealing with sending and receiving information makes use of data transmission. Now it’s important that this data transmission should be efficient and fast with least or no information loss. One such medium which promises to facilitate high transfer rate along with accurate transmission is fiber optics. As the process of total internal reflection through light waves is used to transmit data in connector optical fiber, it’s pertinent that complete cleanliness of the fiber is maintained to avoid losses. It’s only natural that with time and usage, dust and other particles get settled on the fiber, and start interfering with the transmission.

Out of the numerous ways and processes available for cleaning the fibers, dry cleaning process is a more popular one. An air spray or an automatic machine is employed to clean the fiber during the
dry cleaning process. For a quick and convenient cleaning, ferrule cleaners are much in demand these days. They are user friendly and can be easily used on fixed panels also. In fact, it does not take more than 5 seconds to clean the fibers with these equipments. They are light weight and have a long end known as ferrule which are crucial aspects that aids you in achieving 99% efficiency in cleaning the fiber. This sort of efficiency is quite impossible to achieve using wet cleaning methods where solvents are used.

If we were to choose two processes that are better and more frequently used than others, automatic cleaning systems and
fiber optic inspection tools would be the natural choice. The importance of a good and reliable company cannot be undermined when it comes to buying automated filters. AEFOS is a well known company engaged in designing, developing and manufacturing automated ferrule cleaning systems. Why Fiber Optic Cleaning is needed?

Data transmission is the key to communication and to stay connected. Over the decades, scientists and engineers have tried to develop new instruments to send and receive data at greater speeds and also to lessen the loss of data due to attenuation and other reasons, this led to the creation of optical fibers. Optical fibers are very thin wire like structures used to transmit data in the form of waves of light by the process of total internal reflection of light.

The fibers need to be connected very carefully so that dust and dirt do not get deposited on them at time of installation or in the various stages of manufacturing. Dirt causes a decrease in the efficiency of the fiber. Also over a period of time after use, the connections need to be regularly checked and re cleaned to ensure a good connection.
Fiber optic cleaning methods include two different approaches namely, the dry cleaning process and the wet cleaning process. The dry cleaning process, as the name suggests, does not require the use of any cleaning solvent to clean the fiber, instead products like air spray are used which may be a compressed air or canned air. Wet cleaning process involves the use of solvent such as IPA.

Nowadays a more common method of
fiber optic cleaning is through a ferrule cleaner which is an automated instrument such as AFC3000 automated ferrule cleaner which is battery operated and is a fiber optic connector cleaner. It can clean plugged panel and fixed connector hardware devices. It is an extremely cost effective and efficient method of cleaning optical fibers. The AFC 3000 is used worldwide for these applications.

The AFC 3000 cleans the fiber optics very effectively and can be used both with PC and APC ferrules. It has a cleaning cycle of 3 seconds and can be used for over 600 cleans. It has an incredible cleaning readability of 99.5% and is a very light weight, automated, and a rugged
ferrule cleaner which is a huge time saver for installations of such equipment as ROADM’s and other equipment used by telecoms and large data centers and the military and research facilities worldwide.

The AFC 3000 is built to be used with Male and Female 2.5 mm FC, SC, ST andE 2000 connectors or adapters and 1.25 mm LC, MU, or Lemo connectors (SMPTE) most commonly used in the broadcast industry.

Protect your fiber optic investments through proper care and regular cleaning for its long life and durability.

The process of Automatic Cleaning System

Data transmission is the heart of every communication system, not just the communication systems instead every system that deals with receiving and sending of information requires data transmission and to have better efficiency the rate of transfer of data must be fast and should have less or no loss of information. Fibre optics is one such medium which offers you high transfer rates and accurate transmission. The data in connector optical fibre is transmitted through light waves by the process of total internal reflection so it is necessary to keep the fibres clean to alienate the losses. Due to time and usage of the fibres, dust and other particles get deposited in the fibre which obstructs the transmission.

For cleaning the fibres there are a number of processes and
dry cleaning process is one of them. Dry cleaning process includes using of an air spray or an automatic machine to clean the fibre. Nowadays ferrule cleaners are used to clean optical fibres; these equipments do not take much time and are easy to use. They can be used on fixed panels and take only 3-5 seconds to clean the fibres. They are light weight and have a long end called ferrule. You can clean the fibres almost achieving 99% efficiency, which is otherwise very hard to achieve with wet cleaning methods that use solvents.

Automatic cleaning systems are widely used and are better than other processes. You can get good automated filters from www.aefos.com which is a well known company manufacturing and supplying automated ferrule cleaning system to its wide clientele.
